I figured out my problem. This isn't the piece I was planning on releasing this weekend, but oh well.
I improvised the rhythm guitar, added drums, then improv'd the lead. It's kinda Explosions in the Sky, post-rock kind of stuff.

#3: Extra Lives (8-bit chiprock)
The lyrics are original, and I assure you that they're meant to be as cheesy as they are :) I figured with the 8-bit synth, it sounded enough like video game music, so there's references to Donkey Kong, Zelda, Mario, Pacman, Halo, and general arcade-y goodness. I need to learn to record vocals better.
